Welcome to Southern Cross.

This a webcomic about a bunch of hopefully amusing people known as the eight state capital cities of Australia. Southern Cross is a moe anthropomorphization comic - in the vein of Hetalia, Afganisu-tan and the OS-tans to name a few - featuring Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin, Adelaide and Perth. It's about their relationships, their rivalries, their teamwork, their personal tragedies, and the fact that they're all, at heart...a little dysfunctional. Primarily a comedy (or at least trying to be), you don't have to know anything about Australia for this. Hell, you don't even have to care about Australia either. And maybe you'll learn a thing or two...but don't worry. It's not that kind of educational.

Some general news: AskMelbourne, etc

*Right now, it seems like 'every 10 days' is the best update schedule to use, although it'd be nice if I could go back to being weekly.

*In the next few weeks if possible I'd really like to change the banner and my avatar if time permits.

*A while ago I made askmelbourne.tumblr.com which people seem to be having a lot of fun with. I don't get to update it as often as I'd like, but this will be taking the place of the general FAQ I had before. It's more fun this way anyway.

SC returns!

The major hiatus is now over!
Unfortunately I still don't know what the update schedule is going to be, or how often you can expect new pages, but hopefully how the next month or so goes will let me know. Right now I'm thinking a new page every 10 days or so (which would make about 3 a month) but like I said, we'll see.

Hiatus Info

I wonder if anyone actually reads these news posts; it can be a pain to actually view them.
Anyway, as you might know I'm moving to Japan to teach English for a few years. Southern Cross will still be updated during this time, but I can't say how often at this point because I will definitely be busier (but hopefully I can get a decent buffer up first this time).
Since I have to have time to move in/settle in there, as well as have the interwebs set up, SC is on a hiatus for at least a month, possibly more.
During the hiatus there will still be updates in the form of guest art and guest comic strips which have been queued for a weekly basis.
And don't forget to vote in the character poll!

Thank you again to the growing number of fans both on and off Smackjeeves, you've been great.

Happy Late Easter!

I wish you all a belated Easter. As you can see I'm now done with the introduction strips. There will be a few more general strips like this before I go into the first story arc.
Again, the comic will be updated on wednesdays but all delays will be announced in my author notes. There will, regrettably, be a lot of delays over the next few months, and then one possibly major one, but I have a good reason!
Firstly, my tablet is buggered, although that's not the main reason because my sister is kindly letting me use hers until I can buy a new one.
The main reason is, again, that I'll be taking frequent trips to and from Sydney to visit my friends as much as I can (this is the trouble with not actually living there I'm afraid). The reason I want to do this is because I am not going to see them for 3-5 years, and that is because I got accepted into the JET program in Japan! I'm going to be teaching English in Japan in a few months, so come August or so I'll be updating from there. Which brings me to the next likely delay, I dont know how long it'd take to get my internet set up over there, but I'll be sure to keep you guys posted. Again, I'll try to announce all expected delays beforehand in the notes of each comic!

Apologies, and fanart!

I'm really sorry to have to postpone the comic again, but strip #13 (Introducing Adelaide) won't be ready before tomorrow. It should be up this friday! On the plus side, this will return SC to its regular update times...on the down side, there will be another slight hiatus next week due to me going to Brisbane a few days. (You may be wondering 'this is why webcomic artists have BUFFERS, Torino...' I did have a buffer to begin with, but I really do want to get the intro strips over with.)
At any rate I'm really sorry for all this schedule-interrupting, it's been a busy month. I'm especially sorry to the people who said they really wanted to see Adelaide and Perth. You'll see them, I promise;;

In other news KokonaKamelot drew me a very nice fanart of Darwin, and hopefully she won't mind if I link it here.

A friend of mine also drew this Hobart.

Thanks for (almost!) 4000 hits! Also, an FAQ.

Southern Cross is now over a month old and I'm glad that it keeps gaining new readers.
Since people actually asked me some questions, there is now an FAQ on my blog page for the comic, you can see it here:

Thank you!

Thankyou to each of the 11 fans Southern Cross has now! It makes me very happy. I'm also fast approaching 2500 views!

I had to laugh that a total of 8 people told me they thought Melbourne was a girl at first, though. Nevertheless his second Introduction comment bought SC to 600 daily views the other day which is more than twice as much as any of the other strips so far.

Woo!

I have a whole five fans listed so far! I get excited easily, I guess.
Thankyou to everyone who has read/commented so far, and I'm glad so many people enjoyed the prologue. I hope you look forward to strip #1 next week.
